Are you looking for an ayahuasca retreat in Spain, close to France, in a legal and safe setting? La Maison de l'Ayahuasca welcomes you in a space dedicated to emotional healing and consciousness expansion, with professional support in French.

Spain has become the preferred destination for the French to experience ayahuasca in a respectful therapeutic and spiritual context. Thanks to its geographical proximity, favorable legislation, and the quality of its centers, Spain offers the ideal setting for your inner transformation.

🌿 Why choose Spain for your ayahuasca retreat?

⚖️ Legality and legal safety

Ayahuasca benefits from a favorable legal framework in Spain in a religious and therapeutic context, unlike France where it remains prohibited. You can participate in ceremonies with complete peace of mind.

🚗 Proximity to France

Accessible within a few hours from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, or Toulouse. No need for a long-haul flight to South America. You can easily organize a weekend or week-long retreat.

🗣️ Support in French

Stéphane Laverge, experienced facilitator, supports you in your native language. Essential for deep therapeutic work and optimal integration of the experience.

🏞️ Authentic and safe environment

Our center combines respect for ancestral Amazonian traditions and a modern approach adapted to European culture, in a natural environment conducive to introspection.

💰 Excellent value for money

Save on travel costs compared to South America while benefiting from high-quality professional support and European hygiene standards.

🏥 European standards

Quick access to medical services if needed, modern infrastructure, hygiene and safety standards in line with European regulations for your peace of mind.

⚖️ Ayahuasca in Spain: legal and cultural context

Spain has established itself as a European hub for ayahuasca retreats thanks to its nuanced legal position. Unlike France, where ayahuasca is on the list of banned substances, Spain tolerates its use in a religious, spiritual, and therapeutic context.

🇫🇷 Why Spain and not France?

In France, ayahuasca is classified as a narcotic due to its DMT content. Its possession, use, and distribution are strictly prohibited, even in a ceremonial context. Spain, on the other hand, recognizes the sacred and therapeutic dimension of the plant medicine.

🌟 The Spanish framework: between tradition and modernity

Spain is home to several recognized centers that operate in respect of Amazonian shamanic traditions while integrating modern therapeutic approaches.

This position makes Spain the preferred destination for French, Belgians, Swiss, and other Europeans wishing to experience ayahuasca without having to travel to South America.

Other destinations: why Spain rather than...

Spain vs Peru / Colombia

Advantages of Spain: Accessibility (3h flight vs 12h+), no jet lag, no vaccines required, European safety standards, ease of communication, lower total cost.

Peru/Colombia: More "authentic" experience in the Amazon, total cultural immersion, sometimes lower retreat prices (but very expensive flights).

Spain vs Netherlands

Netherlands: Also legal, but less pleasant climate, centers often more "urban", sometimes a more recreational than therapeutic approach.

Spain: Mediterranean climate, exceptional natural settings, shamanic tradition more respected, French-speaking support more frequent.

Spain vs Portugal

Portugal has similar laws to Spain. Both countries are excellent. Spain offers more center choices and is slightly more accessible from France.

❓ Frequently asked questions about ayahuasca retreats in Spain

Is ayahuasca really legal in Spain?

Yes, in a religious and therapeutic ceremonial context. Spain does not criminalize the sacramental use of ayahuasca, unlike France. Our center operates in full compliance with Spanish law.

How much does an ayahuasca retreat cost in Spain?

Our 3-day retreats (2 ceremonies) start from €450 all-inclusive (accommodation, vegetarian meals, ceremonies, support). 7-day retreats start from €950. This price is very competitive compared to retreats in South America when you factor in international flights.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No, absolutely not. All our retreats are conducted entirely in French. Stéphane Laverge is French and all facilitators are fluent in French. You will be able to express your feelings and receive support in your native language.

What is the best time to come?

We organize retreats all year round. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer pleasant temperatures. Summer can be hot but beautiful. Winter is quieter and more introspective. Each season has its magic.

Is it dangerous?

Ayahuasca is safe when taken in an appropriate setting with rigorous medical screening. We systematically check for medical contraindications and drug interactions. An experienced facilitator is present at all times during ceremonies. Side effects (nausea, vomiting) are normal and part of the purification process.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely! The majority of our participants come alone. It is even recommended for a more introspective experience. You will quickly integrate into the group and create deep bonds with other participants who share the same approach.

How long do the effects last?

A ceremony lasts about 4 to 6 hours. The most intense effects occur during 2 to 4 hours after ingestion. The next day, you generally feel tired but clear-headed. The therapeutic effects and insights unfold over several weeks and months after the retreat.
